ABSTRACT

Background: As part of our structured approach to safeguarding we have a quarterly meeting where patient data is presented from across our services eg numbers, vulnerabilities, referrals and involvement of other agencies. Additionally, safeguarding training compliance, safeguarding team and social care referrals are monitored. COVID 19 led to significant changes in the way we deliver our integrated sexual health care;our services are based in a region where enhanced measures have been in place for much of the year. We present the changing picture for patients across 2019 and 2020. Method: A standard report for safeguarding has been designed. We present a snapshot of this. Results: Representative data is shown below. Conclusion: The use of a regular report pulled from data within the electronic patient record has helped the sexual health operational safeguarding meeting become structured and data based. The numbers of both vulnerable adults and children accessing our sexual health services were seen to fall during 2020. It shows that children who are under the care of children's social care continue to attend, albeit in reduced numbers. Likewise, adults where there is an adult safeguarding concern continue to attend but in much reduced numbers. We have implemented a number of measures to try to address these issues : by reopening our young person's walk in, by developing e-referral forms for other agencies ease of referral;by using a young person's mobile for texting instead of calling.
